Fifty years after the introduction of the hydrostatic drive system which began its rise to technological leadership of an industry, Linde is still the pace-setter in Australia and globally.
The first Linde forklift truck with hydrostatic drive, the H3K, was unveiled to the public at the 1960 Hannover trade fair. Today the hydrostatic drive is at the heart of every of Linde internal combustion counterbalance forklift truck up to 18 tonnes capacity.
Since 1960 the hydrostatic drive has been constantly improved. The current generation of Linde IC forklifts serving Australian businesses is based on 50 years of experience at thousands of worksites throughout the world.
They offer a very high level of efficiency and precise control teamed with economical fuel consumption and ease of maintenance.
Unlike a mechanical drive system’s operation, the Linde hydrostatic system transmits its power via closed oil circulation to the two motors of the drive wheels.
The system’s efficiency means a differential is superfluous, as are a clutch and gearbox. Brakes are not needed either: dual-pedal control ensures that the truck travels either forwards or backwards, and when the pedal is released the vehicle stops automatically.
Application advantages
Thousands of Australian forklift operators have discovered the Linde drive system makes forklift handling far simpler than conventional systems and at the same time more precise.
The vehicle is highly sensitive to any command and cue. Even when faced with obstacles and humps, it can be controlled with millimetre-precision.
Cost benefits
The efficiency of the hydrostatic drive reduces operating costs dramatically. It saves up to 30 % in fuel and only needs an oil change every 6,000 operating hours. Tyre wear is also minimised.
Environmental benefits
Fifty years after its introduction Linde’s hydrostatic drive has environmental credentials which are even more relevant than ever. Australian customers and those throughout the world don?t have to worry about gearbox oil or differential oil use or disposal.
Linde forklifts with hydrostatic drive also have no need for brake pads or clutch linings. They do not generate any particulate matter that is harmful to the environment and, by virtue of lower fuel consumption, they save on valuable resources.
